Individual Psychotherapy Services: I am an experienced clinician in Seattle (Fremont) who provides culturally sensitive psychotherapy to adults, adolescents, and couples. I utilize an approach which combines psychodynamic principals, attachment theory, mindfulness tools, somatic transformation, addiction treatment, and family systems theory. I start with building a relationship with you that fosters trust, openness, and safety. I then tailor my approach to your unique needs for a successful outcome.
I enjoy working with people, including those from diverse backgrounds, who feel that there are roadblocks to feeling fully joyful and alive. These blocks may be the residue of early difficult relationships from family, trauma, and/or current challenging life circumstances. The power of the therapeutic relationship will help to allow you to move forward to your higher purpose. One way to resolve these roadblocks is thru somatic inquiry and processing transformation work, where we help you connect with your body to resolve issues that can be directly accessed. Along with talking about issues, allowing the body into the conversation and processing at that level can be a shortcut to mind-body integration and well being. I am also trained and practice Mindfully Based Cognitive Therapy (MBSR). This is a research based approach to treating depression that does not rely on medication.
I help assess when there is need for additional services such as yoga, chiropractic treatment, exercise routines, or medication. I have an established network of providers that I refer to for these adjunct services.
I am skilled at working with people who are in the midst of transition and loss, whether that be in a relationship, a recent death, a change in the family, or an employment issue. Psychotherapy can provide a stabilizing influence when other things are changing and challenging. It can also help with healing and recovery from loss.
I am experienced in treating the following issues: addictions, adjustment disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, low mood and depression, low self esteem, obsessive compulsive disorders, seasonal affective disorder, stress, and trauma.
I have been in private practice for over 30 years and have a breadth of experience. Sessions for individuals are 50 minutes. These will be scheduled to fit your lifestyle needs, usually a weekly time that remains the same each week. After an initial period of assessment, the session frequency may be increased or decreased, according to what we assess will allow for your optimal progress. I take insurance that will cover a Clinical Social Worker, and am a preferred provider for several.
Marital and Couples Treatment: I am trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. I can help you and your partner identify your negative interaction patterns, resolve conflicts, and deepen the emotional connection to enhance a secure relationship. When these patterns are identified there is a clear path to travel for change. I will help you remove the emotional blocks in your relationship to enhance your safety and comfort with each other. This approach is effective and usually works within 6 months of weekly sessions. Sessions are typically 50-75 minutes depending upon the initial assessment and recommendation.
Supervision Services: I offer supervision to new and experienced clinicians providing mental health psychotherapy in agency positions or private practice. I am an Approved Supervisor for the State of Washington, and thus is qualified to offer supervision that can be counted towards hours required for licensure in the state.
